Spawning

The bluegill and bass are spawning in Jefferson Lake all around the edges, in the shallow mossy water. I watched a young man pull a big bass out and take him gently off the hook and put him gently back in. I still haven’t seen a female red-wing lackbird, but the boys are all around, singing their musical throaty song. They didn’t attack me when I came near, but I do hope the females are sitting on the nest.
