Here it is, February 18, and the witch hazel we planted last year is blooming, as it should. It’s a hybrid called Arnold’s Promise. Also greening, which is a bit worrisome since, after a week of temps in the 70s next week it’s supposed to get cold again, is the Sweet Woodruff I planted on top of Ishmael’s grave, underneath the mock orange. And the Celandine Poppy at the side of the rain garden. Also, greying, are Dennis and myself on a walk in Forest Park last Sunday, in Kennedy Forest. We saw a barred owl and lots of woodpeckers. Tomorrow to the arboretum, early, to see what’s up out there.
