Harvest moon one day late

img_4688We saw the gorgeous golden harvest moon hanging low over Manchester Road on our way home from a gathering last night. Huge and low. By the time we got home and I got my camera it was already high and white. Other fall signs: crickets are waiting in the doorways to make their way inside; there are already a few in the basement, I hear them in the morning, enjoy their sound. Sun is lower in sky, shadows longer, days shorter. The woods smell good, the goldfinches are gathering up strength and numbers for migration, blackbirds won’t be far behind.
