Wren housekeeping and a fungal forest

This morning the wrens were at it again, only this time we observed 3 little wrens coming and going from the house, and one wren go into the house with a piece of grass or a twig to add to the nest. We surmise that the youngsters are hanging around the house while they get acclimated to their new motive powers and that mom wren is perhaps preparing the nest for one more clutch before summer’s end. Then we went to LaBarque Creek for a walk in the woods, which were humid and buggy but full of mushrooms. Many seemed to have pushed powerfully out of the ground, pushing leaves out of the way or coming up underneath them. Here’s the creek and the mushroom gallery:
