We did go to the arboretum today, though it stormed and rained on the way there, and we didn’t go far because more rain was coming. But we did see Mary Isabelle, and the prairie is greening after its burn. The bees with the hive in the hollow hickory trunk were busy gathering pollen from the flowers that were blooming: Dutchman’s breeches, a few bluebells, bloodroot, a few Celandine poppies-not much else was blooming yet. Did see the first trout lily blossom I’ve seen in several years now, not quite open yet. And in the park this evening we saw an American egret fishing in a spot where they are draining the pond to make repairs to the stone work, making fishing easy. Tonight more storms, then cooler again tomorrow.
