We went to the arboretum today. The snow and ice are gone but it’s still cold enough that the ground is firm and not muddy. It’s warm enough, too, to smell the dirt. It has been a good winter for dirt- it is moist and rich. Many trees were blown over in the wind we had last Thursday, but most were ready to go anyway. A few hints of
