We went to the arboretum today, our only chance to get out there this month. I was glad to see that some trees and bushes that I’d thought were dead are quite alive. We were a little late for fall color, unfortunately, but the colors are beautiful nonetheless. In the wetlands we saw a white-throated sparrow, some rufous towhees, lots of goldfinches.

The witch hazel bush by Mary Isabelle was blooming.

The beech grove was shimmering.
