In Sault Ste. Marie, camping on the grounds of Lake Superior State University. 63 miles today with a strong headwind. Will sleep well tonight. When on Mackinac Island a couple days ago Liz and I saw a mortal chase- a weasel after a young rabbit. Heard loons this morning in DeTour. Great weather compared to home – lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s, lots of cloud cover. Lots of retired folks on this ride- they just go on one bike tour after another. It’s a cheap way to see the country and stay in shape. Many of them put younger folks in their place, hellish good shape they’re in, though you wouldn’t think so to look at them. And there’s a whole troop of adolescent Boy Scouts along too.
