This is a Great Spangled Frittlary on a milkweed bloom. I didn’t know who it was until we came across 2 women eating a picnic lunch. They happened to know butterflies and told me who it was when I described it. They said they are just now coming out and their colors are fresh.

Looking across prairie. The white are all Penstemon digitalis flowers.
